Summary of Curriculum Vitae

Dr Maria Melachrinou is Associate Professor of Pathology at University of Patras School of Medicine (UPSM), Patras, Greece. She studied Medicine at the same University, graduating in 1983. She was trained in Surgical Pathology in the Department of Pathology of UPSM (12/1983-12/1987) and she received the title of Specialist in Pathology in 1988. She was awarded a PhD degree by the UPSM in 1989 and later the same year was elected in the position of Lecturer in Pathology. She was elected as Assistant Professor in Pathology in 1994 (tenure 1998), and as Associate Professor in 2005. Dr Melachrinou participates in the teaching of Pathology of medical school students and in the Integrated Teaching Courses of the UPSM teaching curriculum. She participates in the teaching of Pathology Residents and provides diagnostic service, at the Department of Pathology of the University Hospital, in surgical pathology and hematopathology specimens. Her research interests are focused on the study of mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis and/or prognosis of neoplasias of hematopoietic and lymphoid tissues. She has supervised one dissertation thesis, is supervisor in 2, and member of the 3-member advisory committee in 3. She has 45 full publications in international journals, 13 in Greek journals and 3 in congress proceedings. The mean Impact Factor is 2.965 (9.734-0.305), and has 526 citations (28 in scientific books). She has participated in editing and/or Greek translation of 3 English textbooks of Pathology. She has participated in the organization of 2 hellenic congresses, 1 international symposium, and 2 meetings. She has 25 presentations as invited speaker in congresses, symposia or meetings. She has participated in 3 grants.
