Summary of Curriculum Vitae

Dr A. Panagopoulos graduated from the Medical School of Kapodestrian University in Athens in 1994. He made one year compulsory duty as General Practitioner (Scala Health Center, Kefalonia, Greece) and as Registrar in General Surgery for another year (Regional General Hospital of Argostoli, Kefalonia). After his military duty, he completed his postgraduate special training in Orthopaedics in 2004 (University of Patras, Orthopaedic Department) and presented his dissertation in 2005 dealing with the treatment of proximal humeral fractures. From March 2005 to March 2007 he completed two fellowship training programs in UK; one in Sports Orthopaedic Medicine (South Tees NHS, Friarage Hospital, Northallerton) and another one in Upper Limb Surgery (King’s College Hospital, Denmark Hill, London). From 2007-2011 he worked as Orthopaedic consultant in a private hospital in Patras (Olympion General Hospital). In 2011 he was appointed Lecturer in Orthopaedics in Patras University Hospital and in 2013 he was promoted to Assistant Professor in Orthopaedics, position he helds till now.

Dr Panagopoulos is member of various societies including Geek Assoiation of Orthopaedic Surgeons, ICRS, SECEC-ESSE, ESSKA 2000, ISAKOS and Hellenic Arthroscopic association. He has 45 publications in Pubmed, more than 250 presentations in National and International Congresses and he has been invited in more than 40 workshops and seminars as a speaker or instructor.

His main interests and research areas are upper limb surgery, sports medicine, trauma, hip and knee arthroplasty, cartilage lesions, biomechanics of human joints and finite element analysis models in orthopaedics

Prof Panagopoulos has already 60 publications in Pubmed with 1577 citations in Google Scholar and 760 in Scopus (h-index 21 & 18 respectively), 12 in non-Pubmed journals and 12 in Greek Journals; 33 Supplements from conference proceedings; 97 presentations in a total of 53 international meetings; 91 presentations in 38 Greek meetings; invited speaker-instructor in 44 courses with a total of 50 lectures; participation in 45 national courses  as trainee and in 22 international; participation in 64 national and 40 international meetings as well as participation in 18 courses of ΑΟ with 39 presentations. He has been awarded 3 times for a presentation, his is a member of 5 international and 3 national societies, he is member of editorial board in 3 journals and reviewer in 5.

His major clinical interests are arthroscopic surgery (shoulder, knee, ankle and wrist), athletic injuries, surgery of the upper limb, arthroplasty of the shoulder, knee and hip, biomechanics, cartilage restoration and trauma surgery.
