Summary of Curriculum Vitae

 

Prof. George Michail MD PhD received his Medical Degree from Athens Medical School, Greece.

He underwent training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Obs/Gynae Department of Patras University Hospital, Greece, and received the title of Obstetrician-Gynecologist in 2005.

In 2006, he embarked on Subspecialty Training in Dublin, Ireland, as a Clinical Research Fellow in the Obs/Gynae Department of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

He presented his PhD Thesis in Patras University in 2007 and later served as a Consultant Obstetrician Gynecologist in Aigion District Hospital, Greece.

He commenced his Academic career in 2013 as a Senior Lecturer and from 2020 onwards as an Assistant Professor in Obs/Gynae in Patras University Medical School, while serving as Consultant Obstetrician/Gynecologist in the Obs/Gynae ward of Rion University Hospital, Patras, Greece.

Qualified as a fully certified colposcopist from the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (B.S.C.C.P.) and as a Trainer in Colposcopy by the same society since 2015, he is the lead colposcopist in Patras University Hospital Colposcopy Outpatient clinic.

Being an active member of the Hellenic Cervical Pathology Academic Group, he has participated in several national and multinational collaborative protocols in cervical pathology and served for several years as an elected member of the Executive Board of the Hellenic Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (H.S.C.C.P.).

His main scientific interests focus on Cervical Pathology, Cervical Cancer Screening & Prevention, HPV vaccination, HPV latency and Gynecologic Oncology.
