Summary of Curriculum Vitae

Dr Zampakis is working at the Radiology Department of University Hospital of Patras since 2005. He was initially appointed as a Consultant and later was elected Lecturer of Interventional Neuroradiology (2009). More recently was elected Assistant Professor of Interventional Neuroradiology (2013). Dr. Zampakis has completed his training in Radiology, at the Radiology Department of University Hospital of Patras. During his training, he showed a specific interest in Interventional Radiology, for many years. Following his basic training, he subspecialised in Neuroradiology (Interventional and diagnostic). More specifically, he was trained at the Institute of Neurosciences in Southern General Hospital (Glasgow), in a major referral centre of West Scotland. During his 2,5 years of clinical attachment (as an SpR and research fellow) he had the opportunity to be trained in modern methods of Interventional and Diagnostic Radiology. For a short period of his training (3 months) he received an Educational Grant from F.I.R.E. (2004). In addition, Dr Zampakis has attended a 2-years course of seminars and successfully passed the exams to receive an International Diploma (MSc) on Vascular Diseases of CNS, from Paris-Sud University and University of Bangkok (2006). Since 2008, he has officially appointed (by the Ministry of Public Health) as the head person of the Department of Interventional Neuroradiology at the University Hospital of Patras. He organized the aforementioned department, and for the last 5 years offers high quality neuro-interventional services, for a population of approximately 1,5 million people. The Department of Interventional Neuroradiology is a referral centre for the entire South –Western Greece, and one the very few active public sector centers in Greece. Moreover, in an everyday basis, he deals with several cases of Diagnostic Neuroradiology (with modern imaging). For this reason he closely works with relevant specialties (Neurologists, Neurosurgeons) and participates in several clinico-radiological meetings. He teaches neuroradiology to the Medical students, as well as to post-graduated students in Neuro-Sciences. Regarding his scientific –research work, this is mainly focused on Interventional and Diagnostic Neuroradiology, but because of his interest in Interventional Radiology, he has several publications and abstracts on that topic. He has 30 publications in international peer-reviewed journals (Medline, Scopus, Embase), 10 publications in electronic peer-reviewed journals, 3 publications in Greek peer-reviewed journals, he has written 3 chapters in books, while has many abstracts in Greek and International medical meetings (>300). His impact factor is 1.92, while the citations are 136 (h-index=6) (only 2 auto-citations). Part of his work (particularly interventional), has been awarded, including the Editor’s Gold Medal (2007) of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology as a first author on his paper titled “External beam irradiation and restenosis following femoral stenting: long-term results of a prospective randomized study”, which was actually the topic of his PhD Thesis.
