Academic Career, Dept of General Biology, Elected Lecturer 1978, became Professor in Molecular Genetics, 2003, Retired 2010, Professor Emeritus 2011.

(a)Studies on beta-Thalassaemia by Mutation detection, haplotyping and functional analysis of beta-globin gene mutations, in patients treated at the University Hospital; (b)Identification of the first mutation in Familiar Parkinson Disease, in the alpha-synuclein gene and studies of its expression; (c) Development of non-viral, Episomal vectors for gene therapy.
