Περίληψη Βιογραφικού Σημειώματος

Ο Καθηγητής Σταύρος Κάκκος είναι Διευθυντής της Αγγειοχειρουργικής Κλινικής του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών. Φοίτησε στο Ιατρικό Τμήμα του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών μεταξύ 1984 και 1990. Αποφοίτησε με τη μεγαλύτερη βαθμολογία στο έτος του και με χαρακτηρισμό πτυχίου Άριστα (8,85). Το 1994 έλαβε το πιστοποιητικό ECFMG (αναγνώριση του πτυχίου Ιατρικής στις ΗΠΑ) κατόπιν εξετάσεων. Το 1995 έλαβε το Διδακτορικό του Δίπλωμα από το Πανεπιστήμιο της Πάτρας με Άριστα, ενώ το 1997 περάτωσε την εκπαίδευσή του στη Γενική Χειρουργική στο Πανεπιστημιακό Νοσοκομείο της Πάτρας. Το 1998 έλαβε την υποτροφία Ωνάση για την πραγματοποίηση μεταπτυχιακών σπουδών (Master of Science in Vascular Technology and Medicine) στο Λονδίνο, πτυχίο που του απονεμήθηκε από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Λονδίνου το 1999. Μεταξύ 1999-2003 πραγματοποίησε έρευνα στο Αγγειοχειρουργικό Τμήμα του Imperial College London στο Λονδίνο και έλαβε PhD από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Λονδίνου το 2004. Μεταξύ 2004-2007 συνέχισε την εκπαίδευσή του στην Αγγειοχειρουργική στην Αγγλία και στις ΗΠΑ (Νοσοκομείο Henry Ford στο Ντιτρόιτ του Μίσιγκαν). Tο 2008 εντάχτηκε στα μέλη ΔΕΠ του Ιατρικού Τμήματος ως Επίκουρος Καθηγητής με γνωστικό αντικείμενο «Αγγειοχειρουργική». Το διδακτικό-κλινικό και ερευνητικό του έργο για το οποίο έχει λάβει πολυάριθμα βραβεία και διακρίσεις εστιάζεται στο ευρύτερο γνωστικό αντικείμενο της Αγγειοχειρουργικής. Έχει συμμετάσχει σε περισσότερες από 5.000 επεμβάσεις κατά τη διάρκεια των τελευταίων 32 ετών. Διδάσκει τα μαθήματα «Αγγειοχειρουργική» και «Κλινική Άσκηση στην Αγγειοχειρουργική» του προπτυχιακού προγράμματος σπουδών του Ιατρικού Τμήματος.  Έχει συμμετάσχει σε 15 πολυκεντρικές μελέτες και στη συγγραφή περισσότερων από 300 άρθρων σε περιοδικά με κριτές, και επίσης συμβάλλει σε περισσότερες από 170 παρουσιάσεις και 168 διαλέξεις σε Ελληνικά και διεθνή συνέδρια και 22 κεφάλαια βιβλίων. Είναι μέλος της Επιτροπής Έκδοσης του επιστημονικού περιοδικού International Angiology (συντελεστής απήχησης 2,1), Αναπληρωτής Διευθυντής Σύνταξης του Hellenic Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, Αναπληρωτής Διευθυντής Σύνταξης του European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery (συντελεστής απήχησης 6,4) και Διευθυντής Σύνταξης των Cochrane Vascular (συντελεστής απήχησης 12,0) και Frontiers in Surgery, Vascular section (συντελεστής απήχησης 2,6). Τα τελευταία 16 χρόνια έχει διατελέσει μέλος της συγγραφικής ομάδας 16 κατευθυντήρων οδηγιών και κειμένων ομοφωνίας ειδικών, ενώ από το 2013 και έως το 2022 ήταν μέλος της Επιτροπής Κατευθυντήριων Οδηγιών της Ευρωπαϊκής Αγγειοχειρουργικής Εταιρείας (ESVS). Tον Ιούλιο του 2022 oι βιβλιογραφικές αναφορές του επιστημονικού του έργου ήταν > 11.100 και ο συντελεστής Hirst 48 στην υπηρεσία Scopus, και >17.100 και 56, αντίστοιχα, στην υπηρεσία Google Scholar.  Έχει διατελέσει Γενικός Γραμματέας της Ιατρικής Εταιρείας Δυτικής Ελλάδος και Πελοποννήσου (2016-2019). Eπί σειρά ετών έχει συνεργασία με το Imperial College του Λονδίνου.
